Cottage - Alexandria

The reason why it is a sniffy atmosphere because only the best of the best in the city go to lunch. if they are looking for someone who gives them a kiss on the wange before they go through the door, they go somewhere else. but as for eating, the cottage is the best lunch in the city. from tee to desserts to suppen and maisbrot, its simply brilliant. I've never been disappointed, and I've always been full, but still want more.

Locally owned. Pleasant atmosphere. GREAT FOOD. Try the stuffed hamburger. The owner is on site during business hours. This really makes a difference in a restaurants quality, service and consistency. You will not be disappointed.

Shrimp bisque and almond tea...need I say more...AWESOME!

After reading some of the reviews, I have to disagree. The staff are incredibly friendly. I've never witnessed anyone receiving 'extra-special' service, and I've never felt that the staff were sneaky in any way. This is also a great venue for hosting a party!

The food is quite good, but I agree that some of the staff have a bit of an off-putting atmosphere. The soft drinks were served flat. Just because some locals frequent the place doesn’t excuse the lack of service quality. Additionally, the prices are a bit steep.
