Bidrage med feedbackI visited Nexus Brewery Smokehouse on Broadway for the first time this past Sunday afternoon for a takeout order of Prime Brisket and a side. I sampled the potato salad and the coleslaw. The potato salad was not to my taste, too peppery. I chose the coleslaw, even though I have to say it was more like a cabbage salad, than coleslaw. The pieces were very large. I had to re-chop it when I got home. The sides were not my biggest disappointment, THE BRISKET WAS. I ordered a pound. It was cut in VERY thick slices. It was tough (dry) and had gristly fat not just the regular fat you expect in brisket which is normally very palatable that you can chew up and swallow. I cut the meat into bite size pieces and still had to chew and chew and then spit out the gristly meat remains. We did not get to consume much as a lot went in the trash. On some of the meat, I was able to chew and swallow, I could tell the brisket had a good flavor but that was lost to the other aspects. Some of this situation is on me, because I am used to getting brisket that is cut thin and is very tender, I never thought to state when I made my order to cut it thin. Brisket is not cheap. Nexus prices, I find, are comparable at $15 a half pound. I didn’t have a problem with that.Because I do like my brisket thin and very tender, I won’t be going back to Nexus.
We recently dined at Nexus Blue Smokehouse and gave it an overall rating of 3.8. We had the pleasure of sharing our table with some wonderful customers who also provided their ratings. The customer service was good, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was attentive and worked well as a team. We enjoyed some delicious drinks, including a tangerine wheat beer and a cucumber jalapeño margarita. Although some of the dishes didn't quite hit the mark in terms of flavor, overall the food was good. If we were to return, we would be more selective in our choices. Areas for improvement include the flavors of the mac and cheese, collard greens, brisket, and rib meat. On the other hand, we particularly enjoyed the chicken, fries, beef burnt ends, sausage, and drinks. Our next stop will be Duke City Barbecue!
This restaurant review says the food is very good, especially the two meat plate with chicken and brisket burnt ends. Although the burnt ends were initially cold and had to be sent back, the second plate was perfect. The waitress, Alya, was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food. Overall, the reviewer recommends the restaurant for those looking for barbecue in the area.
Would loved to have tried the food so can’t review that today. But the service was so horrible. We waited for an hour and a half to end up just leaving because we were not waited on. Got there and said it was a 40 minute wait. But there was no one coming in behind us and only 4 people in front, the wait was probably a bit less in reality. Got a drink and sat outside. (This was their saving grace) An hour rolls around and there’s no text or anything, the restaurant is almost empty at this point, so we check and the girl wrote our number down wrong even after double checking. She says she’ll get us menus right away. 10 minutes later we get seated with menus, she said she would be right back and knew we were there waiting. She just left and kept checking peoples tickets out instead of just putting our order in. 10 more minutes later we left. Just horrible prioritization and time management here. We overheard another group that was also waiting for an hour before getting up to check what was wrong and getting menus, same waitress too. So it seems like a reoccurring issue unfortunately. Seems like the food is good based on other reviews, just be aware of inevitable mixups and super long waits. Bummer.
1st timer. Food was great. I've never had fried ribs before. I had pork ribs that were flash fried; crispy on the outside, fall of the bone tender on the inside. Brisket had a little too much fat. Nexus beer infused hot links were strangely good; although they seemed dry and had a different texture, they were not greasy, oily, or fatty and they had a good kick to them. Chips and Pico was good. Fried okra was a large serving. BBQ beans were good. The 2 meat combo could have stood to have a little more of each meat. Everything was so good I forgot to take pictures too post.Parking: Parking is a little tight.Wheelchair accessibility: Handicapped spaces and wheelchair accessible.
