We’ve been eating tons of seafood the last few wks we’ve been in Portugal and this place stood out…my wife and I spent a few hours on the beach and decided to pop in to try some lunch. We started w shrimp and vegetable soup apps, both were delicious! Our entrees were fresh caught fish and squid, both of them were out of this world! We weren’t fans of the sangria (should’ve tried a glass before buying the 1.5L pitcher), but found a lot of the sangria in the touristy areas isn’t that great. A lot of ppl in the comments again complaining about prices? The prices are clearly stated and many good seafood/steakhouses give prices by weight….it’s better to not even eat at places like this if your budget is tight imo, bc it’s 100% worth it here! As far as the comments about being charged for bread, butter and olives hahaha what places DON’T do that in Portugal, you probably just don’t notice and it’s super cheap anyway. Come here if you want excellent seafood and are willing to pay for it, if you’re looking to not spend much, there are endless other seafood spots in the area that are great and cost less.
We went here for lunch after a recommendation from a tour guide. The location is lovely, on a very small secluded beach, and the fish was good, but the price was extortionate for what it was, definitely a case of paying for the location unfortunately.
I agree with the other reviews. They put down bread and olives but don’t tell you they’ll charge you. Not that much, but still…. You walk in and are shown very fresh fish and asked which you’d like. There was only one « deep ocean fish » left so we took that for 3 people. It’s charged by weight and you have no idea how much it weighs. And there’s a sign with fish cost by weight but you’re hungry and want to get to the table so you’re not doing a lot of math. At the table, they push garlic bread and salad and fries. No printed menus so you don’t know what that costs. The fish was brought to the table after being cooked. It was deboned and portioned. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was delicious. That said, the fish alone was about $175. I like fish. I don’t love fish. I love wine. I’m happy to buy a $175 bottle and I can tell it’s worth that much. But I easily could have gotten by with a cheaper fish. I would highly recommend this place if you really, really appreciate fish. If not, there are lots of other places.
I wasn't a fan of fish until I sampled what was on offer at A Sardinha!. I loved it!! Excellent service, friendly waiting staff, wonderful setting and Fish to die for! Been back lots of times, my favourite eatery, 5* without a doubt
