Honolulu Bbq - Alameda

Got the family meal and the portions were great. Plenty for a family of 4 good eaters with leftovers! Very hot and fresh and tasty. We like this place better than the other Hawaiian spot over by the Target.

Not good. Ordered via Uber Eats and I’m not sure what the deal is- the BBQ plate tastes like absolutely nothing and like others before me was ALL fat and bone (no meat at all), the bamboo soup is very flavorless and bamboo itself is very sour and honestly not good.

Food was great! I got the Katsu (regular size) and it came with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of mac. If i got another scoop of rice and mac, I could have easily shared the chicken katsu with one other person and we would both be stuffed.The menu might be a little confusing to navigate at first, but the lady at the register helped me find something to fix my cravings. The lady at the register might come off as cold/unwelcoming at first, but i think that's just her. I told her it was my first time eating here and she was very patient with helping me figure out what i wanted to eat. They cook things to order so food comes out piping hot. It feels like a family owned place in that it feels comfortable and relaxed, and you go home feeling well fed.If you're looking for a place where you can find some comfort island food, this is the place to go.

Why is many vegetarian options listed as an amenity? This place has zero vegetarian options, unless you count a couple of side dishes like French fries or white rice. I don 't know whether Yelp puts that or the business puts that, but if it 's going to be there, there should at least be something vegetarian on the menu!!

Never buy a Loco Moco from here unless you like Frozen Costco Hockey puck hamburger patties. $16 for loco moco and a Mountain Dew. Ate 5 bites and threw it away
