Our group of 6 had dinner at Casa Verde Saturday night and it was a disappointment. First course Caesar salad was so small it didn't even fill a small bowl. At $17.00 I would have expected a full bowl. Lasagna was overcooked noodles with some meat and sauce, certainly not authentic Italian. All three couples were not impressed. Each couple received a hand written bill with the gratuity (18% after tax) already added to total. We had one bad meal years ago, a lovely meal a month ago and a very disappointing meal this time. I think it's a hit and a miss with this restaurant.
Ate dinner with my husband and had a lovely experience. We love that casa verde is small and feels like you’re in someone’s home. Reservations a must. Excellent service. Dishes arrived promptly. We opted of share the bruschetta which was very tastey. Lots of garlic. We swapped the mozzarella for Parmesan and was the right choice. Then I had the caprese and my husband had the Caesar salad. Both very good. Caesar portion could’ve been a bit more. Caprese was fresh and excellent. Then I had the carbonara which was more like a cream sauce then egg yolk. Need some more flavour. Husband had the veal parm which was great. All in all wonderful intimate experience. Will be back for sure.
We really enjoyed our evening here for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, ambiance quaint and cozy. They did a great job with this space by adding mirrors at the end of the room to make it feel bigger and brighter. The cocktails were good except for the iodized table salt as the rim for a margarita. One thing I don’t understand is why so many restaurants do two set seatings for special occasions. The same amount of covers can be booked by staying open one hour later and staggering seating times between 5-6 and 7-8. When everyone sits at once it’s overwhelming for servers and the kitchen, which was clear when we received our bill after our entrees without being served dessert or offered coffee, which was disappointing when paying $350. This was quickly fixed and dessert was excellent. When leaving the entrance was very congested as everyone had arrived for the 7pm seating while the whole restaurant is also trying to leave.Overall we did really enjoy ourselves and will be back on a regular evening.
Total disappointment! We went for the valentines day dinner, fixed price and fixed tip. Apparently that left them nothing to try for. Calling the food cafeteria quality would be generous. We would expect a better Caesar salad from a bag at a grocery store. Unfortunately, it set the tone for the rest of the meal. It didn't get better. Dinner for two, before wine, but after tax and tip was $253. It was a total waste of money!
