Bidrage med feedbackPoor preparation resulted in a disappointing dining experience! The meals at The Granary used to be fantastic, with a clean venue and excellent customer service. However, my recent visit with my family was a complete letdown. We had booked a few weeks in advance for my grandfather's 85th birthday, expecting the same high standards as before. Unfortunately, the organization and preparation were lacking. When we arrived, the restaurant was nearly empty except for our party and one other table, which should have been a warning sign for a Sunday lunch. The table setup was sloppy, with missing basics like napkins. We had to order our own drinks, and the appetizers were lukewarm. The main course was also served lukewarm, and one of our guests, a 4-year-old, was initially forgotten about until we brought it to the staff's attention. Despite requesting a refill for a dish in advance, it never arrived. Additionally, promised drinks were never brought out. Towards the end of the meal, it was noticed that the party leader's dish was missing some of its contents. We were told that the manager would be informed, but we have yet to hear from them. Overall, our experience was extremely disappointing and far from the high standards we had come to expect.
The food was outstanding, we couldn't resist any of the appetizers, and they were beautifully presented. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the wine and other drinks were also very good. This was my first time at this restaurant, and it is conveniently located for me. We will definitely return soon as the whole evening was very enjoyable and relaxing.
The restaurant was not very busy. The service was disorganized, but the staff tried their best and were friendly and helpful. The Sunday carvery was disappointing and not worth the money. The focus seemed to be on quantity rather than quality, with tough and tasteless pork. The only vegetarian option was a bland pizza. The desserts were not great. They didn't have lattes or hot chocolates available as the machine was broken, and there was no atmosphere. We won't be returning.
Went for a golden wedding meal there were five of us, it was cold in the restaurant .things missing that were on the menu. they had no yorkshire puddings to go with the bark meat, which was like leather all veg was boiled...hard and rough there was no hot sweet, there had all gone a catastrophe
Today we went to the granary restaurant for a meal booked weeks ago. We went last year and had a great meal but this year was totally opposite to that experience. The starter not as described the carvery warm and over seasoned and the...dessert a total disaster. My husband and I order spiced apple crumble and custard which after wanting 20 minutes for our main plates to be cleared and having to ask for our desserts they arrived and were served happily by the waitress with a thick skin on the custard... obviously having sat under a heat lamp for as long as we had waited for them . I sent them back to then have cold crumble and colder custard the waitress obviously hadn’t even noticed which is astonishing really. Why would you even serve that ? Then to add insult we never got a dessert ... asked to speak to a manager and we get a guy in casual clothes that wasn’t the manager but owner.... why because the manager didn’t want to speak to us . We were not the only table to have the same issue. The waitresses managing the tables did a poor job in making sure things ran smoothly so we can only assume they didn’t feel the need to. We were not asked if the meal was ok , if we wanted drinks or if we had enough water... this is the basics of any restaurant and as I’m a chef I really do know . So sorry but I won’t be recommending the granary or going again ... ever !
