Bidrage med feedbackBanana Coffee is a traditional Cypriot coffee shop, and I mean traditional in the truest sense of the word. The building it is housed in is a typical house from the last century, overlooking the ancient and beautiful city of Nicosia. The decor, the unique method of brewing coffee using hot sand, the charming neighborhood of Kaimakli, and the city itself all contribute to an authentic experience. I was fortunate enough to attend the grand opening in early October 2013, where I had the pleasure of meeting the owners - two young, welcoming individuals who receive assistance from friends and family. Banana Coffee has become my go-to spot for a relaxing drink and conversation, as I always feel at home among friends. The name itself is a nod to the trees found in the nearby square, known as "shadow plate" in Spanish, reminiscent of the trees commonly found at the entrances of Spanish villages.
The Silver Coffee Shop is a traditional Cypriot coffee shop in the strictest sense. Located in a typical house from the last century with views of the ancient and beautiful city of Nicosia, the coffee shop's decor, coffee-making method (using hot sand), and the neighborhood of Kaimakli all provide an authentic experience. I was fortunate to attend the opening in early October 2013 and meet the charming young owners who receive support from friends and family. It has become my go-to spot for coffee and conversation, feeling like I am among friends and family. The name refers to the trees in the square outside, commonly known as banana trees in Spanish, reminiscent of those found in many Spanish towns.
Platanos Café is a traditional Cypriot coffee shop; and when I say traditional, I mean it in the strictest sense of the word. The building where it is located is a typical house from the last century, like those found in the old town of Nicosia, ancient and beautiful. Its decoration, its coffee maker (where coffee is heated on hot sand), the neighborhood and the village where it is located (Kaimakli)... everything reflects a level of service and taste that is somewhat lost in the city's bars. I was fortunate to attend the opening, in early October 2013; I was able to meet the owners, two lovely young people who receive invaluable help from their friends and family to get the bar off to a good start. It is precisely this closeness, this atmosphere of friendship and family, that makes Platanos (in Greek, without an accent) full of people every afternoon, despite its short life, less than a month. Nowadays, it is my favorite place to have a drink and chat, as I feel among friends... and as if I were part of the family. They named it in honor of some trees they have in the square commonly called shade trees in Spanish..., the kind you often find at the entrances to many Spanish towns and villages.
