Bidrage med feedbackBeing from Mexico, this is the closest I've come to a home cooked meal. Authentic Mexican food!
The first place that Alli and I stopped when we got to Toronto was the market, at this point we were both very hungry and we decided to have a couple bites here and there. Our first stop was a Latin American Food Court, I originally wanted to try Agave Aguacatte but they were closed so I ordered a couple tacos from Rebozos (pictured above, $9) instead. I ordered two pulled pork and 1 beef tongue, the pork had a very strong flavor and was greasy in a very delicious way. The beef tongue still had a unique texture but wasn’t that special, the toppings for all of the tacos included a little onion, tomato and cilantro. It was a great first meal to start our day off.
We tried the Pozole, which is the best I've had in Toronto so far, and the Lengua tacos, which were undoubtedly the best lengua I've tasted in the city. We also sampled the Carnitas and Cochinita Pibil. The carnitas were perfectly prepared, just as they should be in terms of flavor and texture. I can't wait to come back whenever I can make the trip; I'm especially eager to try their Birria, which is available only on Saturdays and Sundays. When it came time to pay, we were surprised to learn that there was only one woman cooking in the kitchen. This place truly is a gem!
Delicious and fresh! We just got home after a satisfying dinner. The food was fresh—I had the Pozole soup—which was flavorful without being too salty. The service was polite and attentive, and with the music, it really felt like a Mexican experience. I plan to return, but unfortunately, I wasn't impressed enough to skip trying the competition. If I had one complaint, it would be that the soup could have been served hotter, but it still tasted great. Johnny Rome signing off for T.O. Temptations.
The menu is straightforward, but the food is outstanding. The service is welcoming and friendly. They serve the best tacos in town!
