Bidrage med feedbackWe have just left this cafe and can not believe that we could walk in to an empty establishment, greet the girl at the counter, order and leave without her uttering a single word! No smile or “welcome” or “what would you like to order” Absolutely nothing to the point that we thought she could not speak English. However when her friend came in they were chatting perfectly well and did not even look at us when we called out a thank you on leaving. We are not sure what we were saying thank you for actually. The table was dirty and the sugar container was devoid of sachets The cakes in the cabinet all appeared shop bought and in no way appetising. We had a piece of flapjack that was tasteless. In addition the bathroom was not clean at all. On the way out we noticed a box for tips! Our tip is; greet your customers, make them feel welcome, smile, and if the place is empty, use that time to ensure tables and toilets are clean and that everything is stocked!
I took my grandchildren along for an afternoon treat. After making our choices at the window we queued to order. The assistant seemed in a sour mood with the two girls ordering before me, especially when they elected to pay separately. No smiles from me broke her stern look. I asked for four of the medium bowls, and told her the flavours. She asked about how many scoops, but she didn't want to listen to me explaining that I just wanted the medium bowl, regardless of how many scoops. I have not been in before and don't know the science of how many scoops fit a bowl. Ultimately, I was asking for more. When she finally went to get a bowl she picked the small ones. The scowl I got for correcting her, that I wanted medium, was ruthless. In response to her berating my lack of understanding I suggested she should improve her attitude, at which she decided that she no longer wanted our business. I then had to take my grandsons out explaining that they could no longer have ice cream. I do hope the owners read this. There is only so much people put up with.
We have supported Bourne for deserts for many years so this review is not what i like to write. Upon arrival i asked for two menus and was greeted with an attitude which i thought was unusual, i returned outside where the young girl came out and just stood there When asked certain questions she was rude and had a real bad attitude both myself and my picked this up. it didn't change when we made our order even when we did get the deserts in a friendly manner. its a real shame as i went to pay the bill and got the same responses again , very sad as we want to support local businesses but it made us feel very unwelcome
Stopped at Bourne for Desserts to try their ice cream. Loved the selection of flavours and also enjoyed a superb coffee which was really well made and super hot. Prices reasonable. There are seats inside and out but it was full when we arrived, but they do takeaway and there are seats in the a High Street. Nice selection toon of cakes.
I am one of many local people who use this place for coffee regularly. Its reputation has grown due to the quality of products used especially the coffee which is definitely better than the nearby Costa. I am informed by the owner that the beans he uses also cost a lot more too and it is certainly noticible. Only fair to say that Costa is still a good product but when you have a choice........... I can only add that a group that my wife belongs to also prefer the the coffee when they meet up. Not really into ice cream but what is on offere certainly looks good. I will always support a local business with a good well earnt reputation especially when it becomes a talking point. One other big bonus is that dogs are welcome inside rather than outside only.
