Forsthaus - Willich

I used to go to the Forsthaus for cake and coffee and enjoy it on the nice terrace with a bunch of peacocks walking around the tables. This time, I went there for dinner and was pleasantly surprised that they also serve excellent food. I...will certainly return.

The food was perfect. The beer was fantastic. You can choose from the menu or go for the buffet. The service was great. Outside you can sit at the tables, there are peacocks and chickens wandering around you. Great for children. There is a 6...foot high chain link fence, on the other side there are many deer wandering around, only about 20 metres away. It is something different.

We had a guest from England who was flying home in the evening so we had to have a meal at lunchtime. We decided to visit the buffet in the Forsthaus Werner on Forstwaldstr which we knew cost 9 € and is usually good. We...could eat and chat for a few hours before we had to drive to the airport. That was the plan but we made one crucial error, we thought the buffet provided food for the length of time that they advertised. They did not. We went along at 2.pm, ordered drinks and then started the buffet. Alas there were no sardines, some of the hot meats were gone, the buffet was ravaged and untidy looking and we really had to search for enough to eat. It was the same with the puddings, no hot cherries and a few empty dishes. I didn't want to complain, I wanted to see if the empty dishes were replenished but they were not. Our guest remarked that it had been better last time (10 months ago) when we did the same thing with him. Ok for the money it was still a cheap meal in nice (bit old fashioned) surroundings but we were disappointed. If you want a good tip, go early get the freshest food while its hot and it will be a bargain.

Forsthaus is always a popular place during the daytime for coffee and cake but if you really want a meal then here is a real bargain to be had. The lunchtime buffet has enough variation for every pallet and is available from 12 until 3...pm. A fine selection of hot and cold dishes with starters and puddings for young and old. The old hunting lodge is now a little tired but that is it's attraction, it's a throw back to yesteryear and customers seem to be happy with the wonderful ambiance and the efficient helpful friendly staff. We always enjoy our visits and I can recommend the Forsthaus to all. By the way, the lunch buffet cost is 9.50 €, as I said, a bargain

I visited this restaurant on the way through something outside of krefeld. in the beer garden sit peaches and chickens, also interesting a large mamut tree.
