Bidrage med feedbackWe came for a special occasion (my 60th) which was made more special by the whole experience. We stayed for 2 nights and both evening meals were amazing! .The fish was cooked perfectly, served with fresh greens and the steak was melt in the mouth with the best chips ever! As for the desserts...well we don't usually do desserts but these were absolutely heavenly. My favourite was the creme brùlee but the others were divine too. Our room had everything we needed with a lovely comfy bed. The staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel welcome. We will definitely return.
We read the reviews before attending the restaurant and to be honest we did feel abit unsure what to expect. Venue- fantastic, lovely cosy little set up with plenty of space upstairs for dinning. Nice decor. Staff- very polite, very attentive and caring, always talking to you with a smile. Wine- fantastic… however that’s where things stop. Food- although presented well and cooked very well (we had scallops and halibet), there was no seasoning or taste to the meal including the accompanying sauces… we were quite taken back with how bland the food was… now we understand we’re the reviews come in. The cost of the meal was as we’d expect to pay as very similar to normal restaurants we eat in, however the seasoning needs to be addressed before we would come and eat again. Desserts- average… I wouldn’t rush to have them again. Overall a shame as the restaurant is lovely and fantastic atmosphere with the staff.
Tim and David could not be better hosts. Very welcoming and friendly, and couldn't do more to ensure the comfort of their guests. Both dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Wonderful food, beautifully cooked and excellent value for cuisine of this quality. The carefully curated wine list complemented the menu perfectly. Their AA Rosetees are well deserved. We'd agree with a previous review that Estbek is more of a restaurant with rooms than a hotel. That said, the rooms are well-equipped, comfortable and clean. A gem of a restaurant in a lovely location. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a discerning palate!
Handy for the Cleveland way which pretty much goes past the front door. Very much a restaurant with rooms, both aspects are excellent. Cosy room in the roof space, warm and quiet with a lovely big comfy bed. Slightly tricky staircase on the way up. Dinky little en suite shower room. Food was also very good, seafood market fish) based. Carefully chosen wine list to complement the food. The mini dessert selection/ choices were entertaining, but none of them stood out to recommend. Great breakfast in the morning too.
Our dinner reservation was on Saturday 12th august which was regatta weekend. We were surprised that a table was available when we booked on the 11th as this is usually very popular. Whilst the food and service was up to normal expectations we found the prices had increase beyond reasonable expectations costing over £60 per head. Checking the menu a day later we noted prices for all food has been reduced for example we were charged £53 for a fillet steak which was £38 24 hours later. Similar reductions were seen on halibut and fish pies and both starters and desserts. We shall not return but advise anyone booking to check and download the menu beforehand and compare this to prices in the night as it would appear that they vary prices in an attempt to take advantage of 0 Potentially busier times.
