Detour Lounge - Whakatane

Dinner last night. We Haven't been to Detour for awhile, the guy next to us said he goes there 5 times a year he said the food is always excellent. Like always great food service. If you are super hungry go to Detour. Portions are ridiculously big, I love leftovers . The best value for money in Whakatane. Go Chef! it's always smooth operating too, kitchen chill, well controlled which reflects in your dishes. To the young Maori boy waiter great smile, clear speech, great service. Timing Chef is always spot on, your food is delicious, always a nice chill lovely atmosphere. 5 stars hope you both get a pay rise. Keep up the good work, sharing our appreciation. Thank you

The staff were so helpful, although our booking was late, we had a great time, the food steak was cooked to perfection, the tastes were complimentary to each other. Good company, good food, good all round

Had dinner here last night, yummy meals, everyone enjoyed their food. Great and friendly staff. Awesome place for dining out.

Excellent service, and absolutely delicious food. We had the carbonara which is like a creamy pesto carbonara with pappardelle pasta, the seafood taster, and the venison. Everything was amazing and we took pasta home in a takeout box. Ten out of ten would recommend (partner reckons we will fly over from remote Western Australia just to go back)

Wow! Best lamb rack dish I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked rack of lamb with a nice sear on the outside. A large potato rosti that was crisp on the outside and thick with well cooked potato inside. A really beautiful and slightly tangy jus that helped to cut the delicious fatty lamb. And hidden under the rosti were some amazing pan fried vegetables including grated courgettes and spinach. My partner enjoyed his sticky ribs special but mentioned he'd preferred thick cut fries to french fries and coleslaw instead of greek salad but the ribs were super tender. Quite a busy Wednesday night but the kitchen managed to pump out delicious plates of food. The lady with glasses served us and she was lovely and quick serving us. Always been happy with my meals from Detour.
