Kalbi Express - Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo

Amazing yummy food with very generous servings, we had the galbi, Korean chicken, BBQ chicken and spicy pork. Kimchi, japchae and seaweed were really good sides. In a little food court in a Walmart parking lot.

Got the kalbi plate came with 4 sides which is nice. Cabbage did not taste good though. Glass noodles and macaroni salad was good. Kimchi was just okay. Gave a good portion of rice. For paying around $25, I would’ve thought I would get a little bit more kalbi. The kalbi was overcooked on the outside almost burnt, but a little undercooked on inside which is strange. Possibly the worst kalbi I’ve had which made me sad.

Good people, bad value. I splurged for the Kalbi combo with meat jun. For a $20 plate lunch, I expected better quality and, for a place called kalbi express, their portion was small and was like eating rubber bands in sauce. Three very small pieces. The meat jun was decent but both were small portions. Don’t bother with the kalbi, just grab a piece of leather and chew on it.

I got the BBQ fish Jun compo, flavor was good But as with many places the beef was rubbery/chewy!! it's a hit or miss here sometimes very tender, this last time some of the was rubbery I'll go back but will not be ordering the BBQ beef! The sides could be more flavorful!
