La Bota Del Raco

We stumbled into this bar/restaurant because we had managed to get lost, there was a town map in the square and I was in need of a beer. The bar is a typical Spanish long bar in dark wood. The menus are all on Catalan although we were offered some in Castellano. I speak fair Castellano but had difficulty in making myself understood to the Catalan waitress who passed me on to a waiter manager. As it was lunchtime we asked for something to eat and I asked for the Carta para Picar. There was a good selection and we chose Sevillans (Sevillanos in Castellano), Xorico Criollo with morcilla and pebres piqillos farcits amb bacala. Nothing really special. There was an open kitchen to the rear and a long thin dining room adjacent to the bar. The Sevillans came within minutes, freshly cooked. They are just medium sized squid cut into rings floured and fried. They can be of various textures of rubber, but these were cooked to perfection so that they were soft an delicious. The Xorico Criollo turned out to be a white chorizo from Argentina. It had been cooked over a fire so had a delicious smokeyness and again was cooked to perfection. The peppers were home made and fresh. We were only able to give this bar/restaurant one go as we were passing through and although the meal we had was simple it was outstanding. Well worth a visit if you are visiting Penedes particularly if you arrive by train because it is opposite the station.

This is a fun VERY local place with typical Catalan food with a great flavor and excellent location right in front of the train station. Prices are reasonable for the menu for what they offer. You won't be disappointed.

We enjoyed so much the experience!!! Everything is amazing: the food, the service, the venue. Outstanding value for money. An interesting choice when visiting Vilafranca del Penedès. You won’t be disappointed! I suggest any course, especially the roasted meat.

A place where you can eat a menu with more than 12 seconds says first, home food and very good treatment.

Good quality food, although the place would need a facial wash to be more welcoming. final price of the week 24€.
