Italia - VERONA

Since I was staying in the hotel I ate in this restaurant twice. The food is delicious. I recommend the spaghetti or the salmon. The dessert is also very well done. I think between my family and I, we tried all of the desserts. Not one complaint about the food. Maybe we caught the server on a bad night but he was not very happy to serve us. I get that sometimes having people who don’t speak Italian can be frustrating but the attitude was totally not necessary. The reason I mention that is because he would go to other tables and laugh and talk with them in Italian like old friends but avoided our table like the plague. Again, maybe it was just an off day for the guy because he does work almost all day. When we went down in the afternoon we had the sweetest lady serve us for lunch our first day though.

I historically avoid hotel restaurants but my wife was too tired to walk back to the Verona city center so we decided to check out the menu at our hotel, called Hotel Italia. The menu looked good and reasonably priced (all dishes under €20) so we decided to try it. We were blown away with the quality of the food and amazing service. Dinner is served in a charming outdoor roof top setting when weather permits. We made a reservation and we were treated very specially. The caprese salad had burrata mozzarella and tiny red and orange tomatoes with basil. Really fresh and good. We shared tortelli filled with burrata mozzarella also as a first course. I had the pork with porcini mushrooms, which was fabulous, and my wife has eggplant parmesan which she enjoyed. The restaurant is about a 15 minute walk from the Piazza Erbe so off the tourist path but well worth it.

I would like to publicly thank all the staff of the hotel italia for the courtesy and helpfulness that he had with me during the hospedalization of my mother (and also of my brother years ago) to village thirty. The hotel is located near the hospital and minutes from the center (Piazza Erbe). The lobby and restaurant have been refurbished with a lot of goto. My single room, with a bed from a square and a half, essential and pretty, resumes the style of the hall. hearty and good breakfast. the price seems to me definitely adequate. The restaurant at the moment offers only dishes from outside, as it has not yet been reactivated after the pandemic. I highly recommend! Sabrina

I stayed on my own for four nights, choosing a double room for single use. It was very clean and spacious, perhaps a little old-fashioned in ambience but none the worse for that. My only gripe was the shower which didn't maintain a consistent temperature. Adequate breakfast, very pleasant staff. Allow 15 minutes to walk to Piazza Erbe.
