We decided to go to Uncle Abe’s and enjoy their dog friendly patio. Our server was great. Drinks were cold. A great casual place to chill.
Uncle Abe's, though alluring with its dive bar charm and unique proposition of serving Mediterranean food from next-door Mitra's, left an impression that was decidedly mixed. The burger, which basically tasted like a donair sandwiched into a bun, was an unusual take on a classic, and the loaded fries hinted at slightly dated fryer oil, only masked by copious spice-heavy toppings. The environment, too, was less than impressive, the maintenance of both the patio and the interior leaving something to be desired. One area where Uncle Abe's decidedly fell short was the restroom cleanliness – it was, simply put, in desperate need of a good scrubbing. However, even amongst these less appealing aspects, there were some redeeming factors. Their pet-friendly approach was a pleasant surprise, complete with doggie drinks that our canine companion greatly enjoyed.Service was another bright spot in our experience. Our waiter was both laid back and attentive, providing a breath of fresh air to our visit. Yet, despite the charm of doggie drinks and a friendly server, I'm hesitant to return, given the overall experience. In essence, Uncle Abe's is a no-frills neighborhood bar where you might want to stop by for a couple of cheap drinks and a relaxed evening. I can see why people would be drawn to it, with the good happy hour prices. While the pet-friendly policy and option to order food made next door is great, cleanliness and maintenance could use attention. Ultimately, for me, Uncle Abe's is a one-time visit to satisfy curiosity rather than a regular stop.
The worse food quality ever, they don't even know what they are serving. They didn't bring us the exact thing that it was on the menu. After asking for the sides/sauces they brought us red sauce instead of green hot sauce and the Tahiti was nothing even close to tahini.
The place is what it is.Cheap, comfy and good you always see locals in the spot. And they love dogs in the patio. The only thing is the outside tables they always are dirty ?But beside of that it's a really good place.I like more the fries than the nachos but give a try on your own.
