Provence Mediterranean Grill

I visited again with my aging parents and the staff were understanding, welcoming, and accommodating. It was a bit noisy for people with some hearing loss, but that didn't really take away from the experience. We enjoyed the variety on the menu and you can craft yourself a meal that is the perfect size for yourself. The appetizer tapenade and the chickpea cake were really tasty. My dad's seafood linguine was awesome. The only glitch in the meal was that, because it was so busy, the servers forgot to bring my sorbet when my parents were eating their dessert. The server was very apologetic, but it was a it awkward.

A main stay in Point Grey. They put the F in Fine Dining. . . this is the parent outlet of the Provence on Marinaside Crescent . . . they sold earlier this year to, I think, a former employee. They will be missed. I remember Friday nights when we couldnt get in even with reservations!

We had attended an old friend's celebration of life in the afternoon, where they served some tasty appetizers along with wine, so we all opted for the "Mains" on the menu. Our waitress was most attentive, and our meals were superb!

This site has had a couple of very fine restaurants: The Frog and Peach, and for the last 20 years it has been Provence Mediterranean. The meals have always been good and Provence has been an elegant room offering an upscale neighbourhood dining room for lunch, dinner, and tea (we celebrated a friend's birthday with a high tea at Provence some years back). The service has been generally very good and the food has always been extremely good.My husband and I stopped for lunch on a whim during a day with a battery of errands, and having just learned that Provence will soon be closing its doors. The consolation (we hope) is that the new operator has worked for Provence and the current owners are supporting him. With a fond fairwell to Provence, we hope that the new owner will be able to bring the same high quality to this location while bringing his own ideas and style to the new endeavour.We both ordere the fixed price lunch menu, which is a good deal. We were both very full and content by the end of our lunch with wine and ordering a la carte would have been sufficient, but the amount of food was not excessive - we are just not used to eating quite so much for lunch. We enjoyed it all and just had a bowl of home made soup for dinner.

I understand the need for microwaves in fast pasted restaurants but when it's used for every dish, in an establishment that charges what Provence does, I'm not sold.Our appy [meatballs] arrived within two minutes of ordering, which was great. Sadly both the balls and the tsunami of tomato sauce were completely bland. Mains of chicken and lamb chops were equally as fast and just as bland. Wondering if the chef for the night has heard of salt. I've eaten at their Marinaside location a couple of times and found service, food and value superior so I was disappointed in this experience. I don't live in the neighbourhood so I won't be returning.
