Lift Breakfast Bakery - Vancouver

For what seems an eternity I have been walking past a photo of Jane Copeland 's smiling face teasing me with a promise of 'Coming Soon '. As weeks became months, I had all but resigned myself to making the journey to the North Shore 's alternative breakfast spot Denny 's. I understand their Grand Slams are something to witness … free refills on both coffee AND ketchup! Fortunately, Lift has arrived and, as a result, the quality of the breakfast scene on Lower Lonsdale has skyrocketed. This morning, I braved the crowds hustling for a position in the steady queue and ordered the “Heritage Hash” – crispy shredded potato, house made pastrami and roasted red peppers, topped with two (perfectly cooked) poached eggs, green onion crema, and gruyere cheese crisp. As I took my first bites, I was reminded of Meg Ryan’s iconic scene in “When Harry Met Sally” resulting in the woman next to her stating, “I’ll have what she’s having!” Today’s crowd looked a little PG, so I refrained from voicing my exclamations of delight in Meg Ryan style and instead politely and quietly moaned in brunch ecstasy. A great combination of flavours, well presented, and all cooked to perfection. I witnessed each customer receive the same friendly and attentive service that I had. The Lift’s website summarises the details of the conversion from a 1904 pharmacy to LoLo’s new go to spot. Salvaged Douglas Fir 2 x 4’s from the original structure lining the walls and craftsmen style windows are just two of the touches that explain why Jane Copeland’s photo teased me for so long. Welcome to the neighbourhood Jane and team; it was worth the wait.

This is my top choice for breakfast on the North Shore. It can get quite crowded, so be prepared to wait for a table. The coffee is fantastic, and the food is meticulously prepared with care. The homemade hot sauce is exceptional, and the staff is welcoming and accommodating.

I finally got to try this restaurant after hearing so much about it, and I was not let down! The bacon Benny was fantastic - probably the best I've ever had! I enjoyed the twist of swapping out the English muffin for potato roestis, and the light salad on the side made it feel fresh and not as heavy as usual. The service was top-notch and very attentive. It's clear that this bakery puts a lot of care and effort into their food, and the quality definitely shows.

Got to try the house smoked trout benny and it was delicious. From the service to the food everything was on point.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and I will definitely be returning. There were five of us for breakfast and we received prompt, friendly service. The food was delicious. Thank you.
