Bidrage med feedbackI passed by Kent’s several times while wandering around Chinatown and wanted to give it a try but it always seemed to be packed. One morning, just after 11am I happened to catch it when there were only a few patrons present. It was a little earlier than I had intended for my lunch but I didn’t want to lose the opportunity and so I stopped in for a quick bite…
One of the few places that are priced for all members of the community. Decent food, big portions. If you have a sophisticated hipster palette, this place may not be for you.
Kent 's Kitchen. Who is Kent? I always wondered. I remember back in the day, It was $4.25 for 3 item and rice. Probably around 1995. 20 years later they still provide free soup! Right on! Over the years it has gotten more expensive and the container they give you has gotten smaller. From large 'da bow ' Dim Sum containers to small T&T Sushi ones. As the value started going away, I stopped eating at Kent 's. Recently while out, I needed food. I decided to just get something to eat, I noticed the containers gotten bigger, not large Dim Sum ones, but at least there is some value again in theses 'Medium ' sized ones. Some ladies put more toppings on than others, its not consistent. On top of that some of the ladies I noticed, at least 2 put so little toppings on I avoid them. I especially don 't want those two ladies scooping me the up-charged items for $1.20 and giving me a half ass scoop. I give a rating of 4 because there is still value, food taste decent, and good selection.
As a big eater i will always remind myself to buy most of my meals in this location. for 3 items rice the meal cost around 7dollars. and the portion is definitely good and in terms of taste is denitely decent and for the price it's definitely better than bubble world and some taiwanese cuisine food. Chinese cuisine and a typical pick the items out of 20 selection ; <br/ <br/ the place is always packed as well and especially during lunch and dinner hour. they close earlier as well.<br/ <br/ definitely recommend the place and will definite come back to eat there again :
A Staple. Get food from here all the time. Love their mushroom and beef, eggplant with ham, chicken/brisket curry, honey garlic spareribs, tofu and seafood stew, and spicy fishballs. A HUGE portion for very little money that's served hot right away. I always take it to go, since it is rather dirty in the seating areas. Can be a tad greasy, but hey, why not?
