I like Banana Leaf generally, and this place is as good as the other locations.
We have eaten at the Banana Leaf for lunch many times and while the food is usually pretty good, at some point in time, we just have to accept that good or even reasonable service is not something they are concerned about. The most recent visit, and likely our last, resulted in a female server taking our order; delivering the food; and then never returning. She never came by to see if we needed another drink or what we thought of the food, etc. There were about four tables of people eating in what appeared to be her section and she would stand about 8 feet away from the tables, pretend to be looking to see how we were doing but never making eye contact. I even tried waving to get her attention. The couple beside us ran out of water and not once throughout their lunch did anyone refill their glasses. I finally went up to the bar to order another drink. A male server approached me and advised that no one server looks after any one table as it was a group effort. Really? He brought out drinks and we never saw another server again until we flagged someone down to get out bill!?? It's as if each time we went the service got worse. It really just isn't worth it.As well, be very careful if you like lamb as they have updated their menus to note that the lamb is treated according to "Halal" practices. They basically slit the animal's throat and let it bleed to death. To each their own, but I find the practice barbaric. Not only would I not eat the lamb once I realized how it was prepared but I can't imagine ever being able to overcome this knowledge.
It's nothing special. My table shared four vegetarian dishes and they were all fairly under spiced and a bit bland. The service was pretty quick and the waitress was nice but forgot our drinks.
This is my third review of this restaurant. When I am in Kits visiting friends we always end up coming here for dinner. I have never had a bad meal here the food is always delicious. I love the Pineapple rice in the Pineapple and the Sambal green beans are a must. If you like curry I would also recommend one of their curry dishes. I personally am a fan of this place.
