Ocean Beach Restaurant - UMINA BEACH

Five adults and three children visited the restaurant and three of us tried the Beetroot Salmon Salad. The salmon pieces were overcooked, tough, and salty, so we sent the meals back uneaten. Despite our complaint, there was no response from the staff. It seems that the restaurant should focus on traditional dishes like Schnitzel and burgers and leave the fancier items to more skilled chefs.

I am disappointed to say that despite the beautiful beer garden, the food at this restaurant was a letdown. I had not dined here in some time due to consistently poor experiences in the past, but decided to give it another try after a year. Unfortunately, the food was even worse than before. I ordered the seafood pepper from the Specials Board for $28 and was hopeful when it arrived, but it tasted like chicken salt. It was so off-putting that I could barely stomach it, only managing to finish because I was so hungry. I will likely only return for drinks, as they cannot mess up a beer or a glass of wine.

The pub offers excellent casual dining options and has a play area for children. The menu is impressive and I have visited many times, enjoying the delicious food each time.

Good food. The bosses take care of their work. New accommodation. central location, 1 block from a beautiful and mostly quiet beach.

Steak smelled off and sure enough I was not well. Salad was limp and not dressed and hence no flavour. Pepper sauce for steak was a teaspoonful and gluggy. I mean, is pub food hard to cook? Does the chef have a minimal budget so...the old tough cheap cuts that are the butcher's unsold rejects are sold to the OB? They've renovated but once again the residents of Umina have to accept sub-standard food. It is so frustrating to have a pub with so much potential that serves up the worst food in Umina. Skippers across the road makes a $7 steak sandwich and is a thousand times better than a $30 steak!! This restaurant needs an overhaul of epic proportions but lets start with a bit of freshness and flavour. And while you're at it, salad dressing wouldn't go astray! Get your act together chef.!!
