Delightful pub visit today for lunch and a drink. Thank you for having us!
Great bar, perfect for the lunchtime or after office crowd. If your going to a game, you should stop there
It’s a good pit stop. Although you may come across a sketchy crowd. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable. I took off one star because their apple pit wasn’t as pictured. It was similar to a pizza
Alright, this pains me. I don't like writing bad reviews, but sometimes you have to do that. I was actually torn between giving this a 2 or 3 rating, and I settled on 2 because I think there is a lot of room for improvement. I'll get the not so great information out of the way first: We chose the Firkin on Harbour to dine last night. We arrived around 7 pm. Nobody at the doors to greet you or seat you. So fine, suppose it's a seat yourself situation. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Have someone greet customers when they come in and seat them. Nobody even noticed us walking in, and the place was not even half full. Then there's the challenge of actually getting a server's attention. Didn't see one for about 10 minutes. Again, the place wasn't even half full. Finally got her attention and ordered a beer for hubby and a wine for me. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. Appetizer came at the same time as the entrée. NOTE TO COOKS AND SERVERS: Please serve the appetizers first. Have to say the food was mediocre, and we're not food snobs. Not a lot of taste there (hint: add some spice to the batter, and have salt pepper at the table) but the servings in fairness, were a very generous size and nobody will walk out of this restaurant hungry. Our server didn't come around to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, which we would have ordered. Pay attention to the people you just served a meal to. NOTE TO SERVERS: See above comment. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: Train your servers. The music in there was loud. I mean LOUD. Loud hard rock music. I get it it's a pub. We didn't go in there expecting total silence and a harp player or anything. But when you have to yell across the table to talk to the person you're with, and you can't hear them when they respond, maybe it's time to lower to decibels just a tiny bit. And does it always have to be that head banging music? It doesn't make for a relaxing evening. There is lots of good music out there to play. Please find some. NOTE TO MANAGEMENT: See above comment. Now for the good. Here's what works: Friendly server when you could actually get her attention. I think she was a bit inexperienced. See comment re: checking in on your guests. Varied menu there is enough variety for everyone. Spinach/artichoke dip was quite good could have had another one! Location if you're going to a Leaf's game, or visiting the Harbourfront in Toronto, this is a good spot to dine. Walking distance to just about any venue. Nice outside patio, though it was too chilly last night to enjoy it. Final Words ... The COVID lockdown hurt so many businesses, including this one, and it's so nice to have restaurants open and enjoying customers again. With that in mind, I really hope this restaurant continues to do business in the Harbourfront, but they need to pay attention to the details a bit more because overall, it really wasn't a great dining experience. So, is another visit in the cards for us? Sadly, can't say we'll be back, but I do hope someone in management reads this and makes those changes.
