Balzac's Coffee - Toronto

My boyfriend I were quite excited to try the coffee here since we heard so much about it from friends. We decided to keep it simple and stick to the roasted blends. I got the amber roast and he got the winter roast. The coffees tasted a little on the watery side and were not as satisfying as we expected. The woman at the register was not very welcoming, however, the other girl working there was very nice. My boyfriend accidentally spilt his coffee and she quickly came to help clean the mess and even topped off his coffee free of charge. Unsure if I would return to this particular location again...maybe try the one in the distillery district?

We began our day with breakfast at St. Lawrence Market since we missed it yesterday due to it being closed on Mondays. We enjoyed a bird's eye view of the market and learned a little about its history. The market offered a variety of goodies, including cakes, pies, seasonal fruits, a selection of tomatoes, and delicious cheese-stuffed treats.

I could spend all afternoon in this cafe. The atmosphere is extremely pleasant and cozy. The staff is friendly and welcoming. In the spirit of the spring thaw, I tried the Cafe Canadien made with local maple syrup - no sugar needed! The butter tart from Circles and Squares is one of the best I've ever had!

I really like this restaurant. The ceilings are tall, and the counter and tiled floor are absolutely beautiful. The coffee is decent, not as good as some other places in the city, but still better than Starbucks or Tim Hortons. I appreciate that they use organic ingredients and offer almond milk. Some people may not agree, but I personally enjoy almond milk lattes.
