The Shack Ii - Topeka

Replace the short guy in the back for Danny the tall gentleman, he is your best cook most efficient.

We found this place while traveling back home to Tennessee from Colorado. It had great reviews on Google so we detoured off our route. Totally worth it!!! What a fun place. It’s got the feel of an old school neighborhood bar but it was full of families. Our server was at the table before we were even fully in our seats. We can for burgers and they did not disappoint (sorry I forgot to take a picture). If you get the double be ready, it’s a huge burger. I had to take one piece of meat off just to get it in my mouth. The benefit to that was eating the 2nd patty by itself. The quality of the meat was fantastic. I don’t know when I’ll get back to Topeka but I would definitely comeback to the Shack. Great place and great staff. The prices were also incredibly reasonable (you spend as much or more at a fast food place). Some of the locals were so friendly as well, engaging with us as we paid. Make the detour off the interstate. I promise you won’t regret it.

Good place to get a good burger for lunch. You may be caught off guard if you get the double burger. These burgers are bigger than you expect.

A local friend suggested the Philly cheese steak. I'm so grateful to him for that. Don't forget to add onions and peppers (jalapeño)! The onion rings and fried mushrooms were also delicious. Honestly, if we didn't know we were in Kansas, we could have sworn we were in northern Wisconsin. It felt like home.
