El Toque Romero - Taxco de Alarcón

If I could give him more stars, I would. Have traveled many times to Taxco and have no comparison with the food at El Torque Romero. Chef Gerardo's passion is evident with every delicious mouthful. The Chile Nogado serves with a fresh salad of green, beet, Julianne... carrots and two kinds of grapes accompanied by Pesto bread is a must. The crisp chicken with spinach, garlic and cream sauce Oh so good. Has come to the cook to offer a delicious option in Taxco.

We thoroughly enjoyed meal, music, view and staff at El Toque Romero. Highly suggest the Oro y Negro appetizer and the daily special (I had steak, my wife chicken breast) that comes with a fantastic salad, main course and a wine/beer for between 140-200 pesos....Located about 100 meters from the Zocolo, this place gives you everything you get with the central plaza restaurants and saves you 30% from those places. The window tables are a tight fit for 2 but worth it for the breeze and the people watching. The menu is varied: crepes, pizza, comfort food.. Something for everyone. They play a consistent feed of jazz and Latin jazz that provides perfect ambiance. Highly recommend. The one thing to know ahead of time is they only accept cash.

So after a few days in Taxco, we were not having much luck finding a restaurant that had accomplished wowing us with the Big Three Outstanding food, ambience and service... until we found El Toque Romero. We were greeted immediately by the friendly and welcoming...staff. And, while waiting for our food to arrive, the very talented and friendly chef, sent over two different samples of appetizers, tapas style. For lunch I had the ham and cheese crepes, very good and my friend had the Salmon Salad. This salad was filled with an array of fresh fruit, papaya, strawberries, kiwi and the dressing was tangy and a perfect complement to the grilled salmon. I was a bit envious, but she was kind enough to share. Before we left, the chef sent over a beautifully displayed tray of mezcal, served with oranges and cinnamon. Amazing!

After visiting Taxco, Mexico numerous times, this was the first time we have seen El Toque Romero. It's a perfect place on a Friday or Saturday night to sit on the Zocalo elevated above the crowd overlooking the cathedral and all the action. While we...did not have dinner here, our server offered a drink made with Mescal. It was just what we needed to relax before Tianguis Silver market shopping tomorrow (Saturday). The menu consisted of pizzas, crepes, spaghetti and lasagna. We will definitely be back to have dinner !

This is the perfect place for watching the life on the zocalo in Taxco. The balcony is a bit small, but the food is certainly one of the best you can find in the area around the zocalo. I can recommend it.
