Highland Grill - St Paul

I was here on 5/26. I haven?t gotten around to leaving a review until just now. My server was not great. She was friendly with those around me, but not me for some reason. The food was okay. I asked for over easy eggs and they were too well done. My toast was burnt. When I was finished and ready to settle my check, my server kept walking by and looking at me. It was so awkward! Still thinking about this place days later. Highland Grill is awesome. The food was top-notch, the ambience was warm and inviting, and the staff were very friendly. With reasonable prices and broad menu, you can?t go wrong here. I got the Hot Hash and Holly and chicken wings when we went on a Sunday morning. It was a lot of food. The chicken wings are some of the best I?ve had; they were crispy, flavorful, and well presented. The hollandaise that they make here and serve

Imagine a grilled cheese sandwich with a twist, the addition of chutney was a delightful surprise. The gooey cheese paired perfectly with the sweet chutney, creating a wonderful combination. The server suggested getting the fries extra crispy, and it was a fantastic recommendation - even though I usually don't enjoy fries, these were exceptional! Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, the server treated us as if we were the only table, and her smile was a welcomed sight in a world where it's rare to see people truly enjoying their work.

Typically a 5-star experience, but today was disappointing in terms of food and service. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup, but the cheese on the sandwich wasn't even melted and there was an issue with the soup (wrong amount and long wait time to resolve). However, once the soup finally arrived 20 minutes later, it was great. The wait staff also seemed to forget about us when it came time to pay. Hoping for a better experience next time!

Today was a tough day for my partner and me as we had to say goodbye to our beloved dog. We decided to stop by a restaurant for a meal before heading home. Our waitress was very kind and understanding when we shared the news with her. The food we ordered was delicious, and to our surprise, part of our meal was complimentary and we were given a free dessert to help comfort us in our time of loss. The manager also offered his condolences and made us feel heard and reassured. We are grateful to everyone at Highland Grill for making our difficult day a little bit easier. We will definitely be returning in the future.
