Bidrage med feedbackSo in the process of starting a new diet, for the first two days of the diet I was required to fat load . Yes you read that right, I was required to eat high calorie fattening delicious comfort foods and to actually only stop right before making myself sick. So I decided to do it right and indulge in decadent foods. Could not have chosen a better spot to spend my last evening indulging than at the Oyster Bar. Service: Stephen attended our table this evening and just absolutely spoiled us. We really felt like we had the full attention of the entire wait staff during our visit even though we weren 't the only group dining that evening. Service was top notch, kudos to Stephen. Selections: We shared plates so as to sample more of the menu being this was my first visit. We started with the caesar salad and oh how rich the dressing is. I would come back just for the salad and a glass of wine. Next came the chicken liver mousse. My friends were very skeptical about this choice. They were scraping the last drops of mousse. We also shared the bouillabaisse with it succulent broth and the duck poutine. Drinks: I indulged in my favorite, a cognac based Sazerac. This has to be my favorite so far in St. Louis! Definitely enjoy a glass if you visit this bar. Dessert: We finished up with the beignets and bread pudding. Both were delectable. A perfect end to a perfect evening of good service, good food, good atmosphere and great conversation. I WILL be returning. You should check them out too!
Stopped in for brunch to feel the midday breeze outdoors as we overlooked the park. DeMun offers a very chill vibe so a good dining experience really sets it off. Crystal was stale initially but I could tell she had a great personality deep down. Once I broke the ice she was like an addition to the table. Scallops Grits were a WINNER amongst us all. I loved it so much my sister ordered a dish for herself as well. She also mimicked my deliciously refreshing Lavender champagne. Nephew raved over the Crab Benedict. Overall great experience; I'd love to return for cocktails after work some day. ~Christy
I almost never do this, but I am downgrading my review. The service during my last visit was still friendly and attentive, but the food was a huge disappointment, especially at these prices. I had the mussels clams with the red sauce, which tasted like watered down tomato paste and a pound of salt. It was practically inedible and downright unenjoyable. Also tried the mussels with garlic beurre blanc, which was nothing like what I raved about in my previous review--completely bland this time around. The only saving grace from the food menu that night was the scallops served on pork belly--three pieces for $22. That was delicious and almost worth the price.
Never go on Sunday bc that is the only day they do not get oysters directly from the airport. Unless u come here and are not getting oysters try another night. Nevertheless the oysters are wonderful (mostly Japanese or from New England). Best thing I had 1) clams and mussels dish. I think it's meant as an apps but it's an amazing entree. The white wine sauce is outstanding 2) oysters are wonderful and fresh 3) specials of the night are usually a hit But the biggest let down was the homemade gnocchi for me it was just bland and doughy. Go to the hill if u want some pasta but this is a wonderful place to stop in for some seafood in a landlocked state. Other tips: Reservations recommended but the bar is open seating/outside. The place is kind of small FYI.
This is our favorite date spot. We use to live nearby and would come all the time, I'm sad we are not as close anymore. They have the best mussels in the city, hands down. I'd go for the blanc sauce, and be sure to order extra bread because you'll want it for the sauce after all the muscles are gone. I recently just started enjoying oysters, and well they a great here as well! I believe they fly them in fresh every day with the exception on Sunday. There are always amazing specials so make sure you read the chalkboard inside before deciding on what you want to eat. This is also just a great place to come to for a cocktail! They are amazing. If the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy the neighborhood. Bonus, Clementines is now open next door! Treat yourself to some amazing ice cream after dinner....that is if you still have room for it!
