The Raj - St. Helens

I have been a regular at this restaurant for over a year now. However, my last few visits have not been satisfying, so I took a break for a few weeks thinking maybe the usual chef was on vacation. I am still disappointed. It seems like they are skimping on ingredients and adding too many small pieces of chicken in each dish. I ordered two meals and they both tasted identical, with at least 5 pieces of chicken tikka in each. It's time for this restaurant to hire a new chef. What a shame.

I've been here for several years regularly and eating is so consistent. had a bit of a delay today (saturday,) understandable how it is a week-end. the driver was brilliant, missing a bottle of koks, but he went to the next...shop and came back less than 5 minutes later with the koks. spoke to the chef who was also excellent. in these difficult times local businesses need to get as much trade as possible and sometimes this could mean the occasional delay, but if they go out of their way to make it to them, I think that much about them says so thank you and well done

That was okay. they have a very bad food-hygen rating that would stop me from going back. onion bajis were big and good when we arrived to collect the food they arranged to deliver it. no problem, but it could have been. total. I will not go back.

We waited for almost 2 hours for our food, and the delivery driver got lost on the way. When the food finally arrived, it was warm and tasted like rubble. This experience was a complete waste of money and a disappointment.

I ordered the Naga curry. It arrived quickly, was freshly cooked and was full of great flavour. The veggie samosas were hand made and were enjoyable.
