Press - St. Helena

The service made our table of 4 feel like a second animal customer, when the “vip” table next to us armed to the teeth with 4 servers overpowered everything we needed (including things as easy as a refill of ice tea, etc.). When our table actually got service, we were greeted by almost cold steaks, oysters with broken shell in them, and coffee that took 13 minutes (on an iPhone) to brew. Apart from the inadequate temperature of the $65 NY Strip Steak, the food was decent. However, the service was better at a suburb of Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory far below all that awaits Napa far away. Total disappointment disturbs that I look at the spots to host a big corporate event here, which is COVID “over”.

It was a year plus since our last visit as we are out of town. We were initially drawn for a critique of press that tortured their bacon appetizers. We enjoyed our experience in January 2020 under the previous menu/cook. This visit was not what we expected from menu and cook changes. No speck appetizer and another menu. We expected the previous Steak house experience. The food was good. We visit annually and try to take a dinner at Press. With all choices and given the changes, this was most likely our last visit.

All right! No complaints. Lobster and beef fat potato are amazing!!

Service was extremely slow and the restaurant was barely full. We ordered Steaks that I would say we were very moderate. We definitely had our fair share of really nice restaurants and honestly said that we were happy and honestly disappointed. I'm sad about how we heard some great things. The party next to us also had some problems with their meal. Anyway, the apps were good, but again I think Napa has some other best choices.

This was the most over priced and under valued dinner we have ever had. We have been to a wide variety of places all over the world, and never have we felt more ripped off with this experience. The food wasn’t that great, in fact the asparagus side was horrendous with the mixture they used for sauce. The portions, for what you paid for these plates $48 for a small chicken breast) was completely over rated. We will never go there again and have advised all of our family and friends, who travel up to St Helena, to stay away.
