Waggon Horses - South Staffordshire

Every Monday is always a really enjoyable evening with the quiz! It’s one of the best I’ve ever been to! The staff, Hayley and Sydney, are an absolute delight. It really is a highlight of my week. AND if you win you get a £25 voucher on food and drink, THEN second place get you 4 drinks tokens for certain beers or wines, our favourite as it’s the one we get most often is bonus 5 points for next week x

The staff were really friendly and service was prompt. We had the Sunday roast which was ok and we would have expected a lot more than ok for the price. We wiped the highchair and the wipe ended up black. I think a deep clean is required. This was confirmed when we saw the state of the curtains from outside as we were returning to the car. All in all, the staff make this place. For the price though, we would have expected a much better quality meal.

Booked a table on Friday night for 7pm. We were seated and the waitress took our orders. Sadly, that’s when our dining experience started to go wrong. After 20 minutes, our drinks still hadn’t arrived and we had to remind the waitress, who was so busy cleaning tables that she completely ignored us. When the drinks arrived, it was clear that the two bottles had been opened and left on the bar for some time, as the Chablis was luke warm. We asked the waitress for another bottle, only to be informed that they had “no more bottles downstairs”, and we had to request an ice bucket as one was not offered. Sadly, the wine was so warm that only the last glasses were anything near the correct temperature. Our starters finally came, lamb koftas and pate. All ok. Sadly, this was the last time we saw our waitress, as I assume she then immediately finished her shift. By 9pm, the main courses hadn’t arrived, so we gave up and left. Sam, the chap on duty, was lovely and very apologetic, but two hours to be served a slice of toast and hot £30 white wine is just dreadful.

Nice to have a pub where you can Grab a drink, great selection of foods and more important to be able to sit and talk to friends. So many places now have music blasting out which destroys the art of talking. Personally, I enjoy a good old natter!! We had a lovely evening, food arrived promptly and just what we expected. Evening was made that bit more special as we were looked after by Jo who made sure we had everything we needed and nothing too much problem together with a lovely big smile. Thank you Jo for looking after us and look forward to our next visit.

Steak was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed all our food . Jo has excellent customers service skills and works tirelessly to achieve the best experience for the customer. She should be highly praised for going the extra mile.
