L'Orangerie Poolside Bar - SORRENTO

Terrible experience at L’Orangerie. My friend and I had arrived in Sorrento for the day ready to find a nice place to have a drink and some food, considering it was 33 degrees we thought why not try find a nice pool to swim in as well. We walked past L’Orangerie poolside bar and restaurant and thought that sounded like the perfect place to spend our afternoon. After looking online to see if we needed to book, and seeing many openings for the afternoon we thought we would just walk in and ask as there were many free reservations. Upon arrival a staff member greeted us and we said we would like to have a few drinks by the pool, she said of course do you have a booking, or we said no (as after looking at the website it did not appear necessary, as well as looking around there were many free sun beds available) she said no worries I will check with my colleague. She turned her head for one second before then saying I am sorry we are so busy today. We were carrying backpacks as we had packed and brought a spare change of clothes as we expected to go to the beach, but upon arrival decided if we could find a pool that would be a better option. Dressed neatly in a linen skirt and singlet, whilst admittedly a little bit sweaty and flustered from the extremely hot weather I found the service extremely rude and conceited as they clearly had decided we were not good enough to be let in. My friend and I would have enjoyed more than a few drinks as we planned to stay in sorrento until a cooking class we had booked later that night. Would not return.

Upscale restaurant in a poolside setting. Great service even though there was heavy rain and all the tables had been moved under the bar. Excellent food.

Delicious food, great ambiance and friendy staff who made sure we had a great evening.

Excelent service, definitely the strenght of this place. Food was good, the pizza on par with many of the best around town. The cocktail and drinks menu is quite good. Food menu consists of pizza, some finger food, salads and sandwiches. I recommend the club sandwich and the Nduia pizza.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch pizza. Yes, pizza . Excellent quality, timing, appointments, olive oil, and balsamic reduction. And the wine was well discussed and chosen. This is an undiscovered retreat in Sorrento! Try it! You will not be disappointed .
