Bidrage med feedbackTasty dinner both starters and main course. Friendly and fast service, despite Saturday night and tourist season. Warm recommendation!
I had a wonderful evening at this lovely restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy, the wait staff very accommodating and professional, and the food was delicious! I had the black and white pork tenderloin, and it was wonderful. The sauces were so tasty and the food cooked to perfection. Everything was good—the bread, the potatoes, and the carrots with the meal. But the sauces were extraordinary. It was a very generous portion; I would not have eaten so much if it were not so very good. I hoped to go back tonight, but I find I have a business dinner. Otherwise, I would definitely go back.
First of all, me and my partner arrived 2 hours before closing and were offered the least charming table. I suspect because of asking in English. Asked for a cozier one, and were taken to seat where most other clients were. We sat at the end of a table for 12 people. We were offered wine, ordered a Merlot. All good this far. We seemed to get a double portion of my appetizers by the kitchen 's mistake. The appetizers were alright, a good goat cheese roll, at this point we still had hope for a nice evening. The appetizers were taken away, and we got no new cutlery. The previous forks and knives were retired off our table, but no new forks were brought. We realised we had never been shown what the wine bottle was, wine was poured far away from us. The second courses came in drowned in sauce and sided by the most mediocre, possibly frozen cut, potatoes in cream. Too salty, too basic, excessively priced for the execution. You could barely taste the meat among all that sauce. All the flavors disguised in extremely strong sauces. How can one tell if the meats we ate were nice quality at all? -Ordered a second glass of merlot-. We ordered desserts as well and had to wait for a long time. I got explained that clafoutis 'is basically pancake ', and that was not far from the truth. Pancake, plain, and boring pancake, with -still peel on the apples-. As a former chef, getting explained what clafoutis is was tough enough to handle, but chewy apples with peel on them... The chocolate mousse tasted of sand, the vanilla ice-cream, somewhat fruity and far from vanilla. The créme brulée was far from the flavor créme brulée is supposed to have. No flavor on the cream. We ordered the check, and wine was charged as if we had ordered 16 centiliters glasses. We were never asked for what size wine glasses we wanted to have, we both were sure we hadn 't asked for larger, so we expected the menu 's price. We were charged the larger glass price, and rudely told 'we must have not heard the waiter asking if we wanted the larger glasses '. I responded we hadn 't even seen the bottle, and we were both certain that we had never been asked what size of wine we would want to have. They offered to repay us the change, total of about 6€, which we declined. That small a change couldn 't even up for the waiter 's rude attitude anyway. I have been a chef and a waitress, and commented that not even having seen the wine bottle is bad serving practices. I got rudely told that 'that 's how they work at Franz and Nicole '. I 'm not coming back. Trashy service, rude attitude, mediocre food. They are surfing the reputation of 'being a nice diner in Vaasa ' just because of their high price tag. You 'd better go and eat elsewhere. Any other restaurant on the same street will do a better job. -A couple of pissed off locals who know most of Vaasa 's restaurants rather well.
Amazing food, friendly staff. Everything was just perfect. We got tasting menus and it was a good choice. Huge recommendation!
We had dinner at Frans Nicole with my extended family. Everyone agreed that the food was great and we all enjoyed the whole experience. Only drawback was that the children's playcorner was closed, but that might be understandable considering the circumstances.
