Bidrage med feedbackThis was one of our favourite places to stop by for a bit to eat and drink in the centre of Seville. The prawns are to die for the crispy lasagne is genius! The wine is great quality and a very reasonable price.Ditto for the draught beer. We found the staff to be friendly.
Today at 8PM I went to this restaurant with my friends. We were greeted by a man blocking the doorway looking at us like we were garbage. He appeared to be our waiter, unfortunately. We sat down in the restaurant, we were the only 4 people for the entirety of our stay. Because the restaurant is named “Umami Tapas Cockteles, we expected to drink a couple of lovely cocktails. We asked for the drinks menu but were promptly informed that there was no such thing. My friend asked if there were any cocktails but also: no. We then asked why the name of the restaurant was “tapas y cockteles” to which our waiter told us: management decision but we do not serve cocktails.... great. My friend asked for a tinto de verano, i also wanted one but without the fresh slices of orange due to an allergy (pretty straight forward I think). 10 minutes later my friend got the tinto de verano but i got a regular red wine. When i pointed out that was not what i wanted and explained to him a second, third and forth time I just wanted a tinto de verano without the orange slices he then proceded to FLIP ME OFF!! He started to get angy and told me to speak Spanish when in Spain so I did, the man probably did not think I could but I heard his insults. Nobody that works in the hospitality service should behave like this. We stayed 10 minutes longer to drink the drinks and he kept looking at us angry. We really did not want to pay because you just CANNOT treat, not only customers, but people in general like that! But we payed because we decided to keep it civil and be the better man. I hope this waiter has a talk with management and a long lesson in hospitalty.
A charming restaurant in a convenient location in the centre of Seville. The interior is beautifully furnished and very modern, and the food was of a very high standard. I would describe it as a mix of traditional Spanish tapas and Japanese cuisine. However, what stood out the most during my visit to Umami was the quality of the service. The waiters were extremely polite and welcoming, and went out of their way to ensure our party was well-attended and comfortable. I'd highly recommend Umami to anyone looking for a unique yet highly pleasant dining experience in Seville's city centre!
