This spot is by far the most economical spot to have lunch, in the Old Town/ St Lawrence area , if you factor in portion size and quality of the food. Also the most convivial( first time customers get a free cookie) and welcoming. The owners are so nice and friendly. They have been open for 27 years and I wish them 50 more. From falafel to tuna salad, while not forgetting the delicious baked goods, the food is much better than at any other place selling this type of lunch fare. Elias loves his family , his restaurant and his customers. And we love him back! And yes, the apple cake is to die for!
Elias is probably the most genuine human being alive. Also, the apple cake here IS the best dessert you will ever put into your mouth. Go there...Now.
As you enter the purple store with "Mystic Muffin" written in red on a white board, you meet the owner, Elias. Learning that he also hails from Lebanon, you feel a sense of trust and familiarity. You order the falafel sandwich with grilled eggplant, a must-have addition. The falafel is perfectly crispy, and when combined with the grilled eggplant and fresh vegetables, it creates a delicious and satisfying blend of flavors and textures. And don't forget to try their incredible apple cake. Overall, Mystic Muffin is a great choice for those craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors. And don't forget to say hi to Elias – he's the man!
During our last day in Toronto, we had plans to visit the Royal Ontario Museum. Ben is a big fan of museums, so we decided to walk to the ROM through Queen's Park. Along the way, we spotted a sign for the "World's Best Apple Cake" outside a nearby restaurant called Mystic Muffin. We couldn't pass up the chance to give it a try.
