El Caldero - Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Local tapas place. Food very good quality, good value. Service ok. Perfect location next to the waves. Very simple place

We have been coming to ‘El Caldero’ for many years for their amazing Paella. The tapas food is also amazing but their Paella is honestly amazing. I’ve read some reviews of the waiters being ‘grumpy’ I’ve never experienced this but I have witnessed them struggling to understand some English visitors that make absolutely zero effort to order and talk in Spanish. Wonderful view and amazing food at a excellent price

Great location. Popular. Unsmiling staff. We ate here twice for lunch but the food we chose was pretty ordinary (sardines that were no more than big whitebait, a caprese salad with rubbery cheese). Maybe we chose badly, but although we would go back for a drink, we won’t eat here again.

In the menu mark two tapas or rations that we came friends to eat and ask for squid rations, chops and chipirones. very little amount for the price the truth a little discontent.

Lovely restaurant overlooking the sea. Very nicely appointed. The food we had was very good particularly the grilled prawns which were excellent. The only issue were the staff who were the most miserable staff we met anywhere on the island. They didn’t have a smile between them and questions were greeted with a one word grunt. Would go back for the food and hopefully a more inviting customer service
