Firelands Winery - Sandusky

On a motorcycle roadtrip Stopped in for a tasting. location was good, nice quite road off the main. Patio was perfect. We took the taflkast over with us to enjoy alittle dice game while we enjoyed the patio, all wines we sampled were very nice. Pina Colada slushy was a-bit to much pineapple we didnt taste any coconut really but it was good just not a pina colada. We’d recommend making a stop. Cheers!

Wine’s still great, but the place has gone down hill since we were here a couple years ago. All the “please seat yourself” and “self service. We can’t find workers.” signs are pretty tacky. That’s usually code for “I’m not willing to find workers.” Even the men’s bathroom stall doesn’t haven’t a lock on it. Cutting corners which is sad to see.

The service and food were excellent. We enjoyed trying the wine flights along with our cheese plate and sandwiches.

The wine selection was fantastic, with many options to choose from. We purchased a few bottles of the ones we enjoyed. The pizzas were also good, but the cheese plate was disappointing as it only included two packaged cheeses and too many crackers.

So far the Firelands Vidal Blanc ice wine is one of the best we have tasted on our tour of the Ohio Winelands. Very affordable, about half that of the other wineries ice wine offers. Unfortunately they are not open on a Sunday and so this place is strictly a week or Saturday visit. Well worth the trip!
