Bidrage med feedbackHigh prices with small portions. Shaking Beef was $48. Meat was tough. My neighborhood Vietnamese Restaurant's Shaking beef is $16 with soft and juicy cubes of beef. I asked the waiter about the yellow tail and he thought i wanted an order he served it and I felt bad not worth $25 for 4 pieces of fish. Maybe it was a bad night ... but $180 later for my hubby and I, we will go to our neighborhood authentic one!
Too pricy and not for vegetarians. Nor good drinks. Tried crispy imperial rolls good Yellow tail ok ok Rice cake good.
This restaurant is located in Bishop Ranch which is spacious and pleasant. It is less crowded than the one that used to be in San Francisco. The food is pretty expensive. The quality is pretty good, but I was not blown away. The one in San Francisco was better. The service was good and the delivery of the food was prompt. They also automatically added a 20 percent tip which I found a little odd (only two people dining).
The place is very conveniently located in the city center. Wanted to try this place for a while. We had the shrimp dumpling Gau Choy gau) and veg. Imperial roll starter. Both were very flavorful and tasty. Main course was cellophane noodles with crab, which was just ok, not much in the dish except just noodles and a bit of crab. The other main course was the whole fish, which was a Dorade, although the fish is not local probably frozen from turkey or Greece) tasted pretty good. As we worked through the fish, it was undercooked and the waitress was quick to realize and took it back to kitchen to fix it. Overall the food was ok, but very expensive for what you get, be prepared to shell out same as a high steak house. We paid 130 for two starters and 2 main course! Food and tea was north of 200 without alcohol and on top there is a mandatory 20% tip added regardless of party size. Put together for the ambience, food, service it was overpriced. I can think of better places Ambience and food) to spend .
Had a late lunch for a party of 8. Great atmosphere and service. We had a lot of dishes, but the consensus standouts were the daikon rice cakes, the imperial rolls, the Vietnamese beef stew, and all 3 desserts: strawberry cake, chocolate tart, and the coconut lychee panna cotta. (See photos for what we ordered. Maybe because we had such a large party, it may have been hard to pay attention to each dish. We weren't blown away by the shaking beef, their signature dish. Lots of the other dishes tasted very similar to each other (or couldn't distinguish the main ingredient . We thought the whole mackerel was our least favorite. All in all, the restaurant is a great place to go for atmosphere and service. The food was good, but not so memorable, particularly for the price.
