Old Town Sushi - San Mateo

"I ordered the Salmon Skin Roll, but the skin was burnt. The Beef Teriyaki was overcooked and chewy, making it hard to enjoy. The Lion King Roll was soggy and watery. We dine here often, so this experience was particularly disappointing. We hope to see improvements in the future."

The sashimi is excellent, the sushi is fantastic, and the dinner combo is large and a great deal. It's definitely one of the best sushi spots in San Mateo!

The portion sizes are reminiscent of visiting your grandma, who worries you're too thin—if your grandma happened to be a sushi chef. Seriously, the photos do not capture the generous servings.

We've been visiting this restaurant for years, and it's consistently excellent for family dining! The staff treats you like the best customers, giving you their full attention. They always prepare something special for us to try, making us feel like part of the family, and they extend that same warm treatment to everyone! It can get quite busy and crowded, but it's absolutely worth the wait. The dining experience is warm and welcoming! The portions are generous, ensuring that no one leaves feeling hungry. I highly recommend the number one roll—it's loaded with crab meat and truly a culinary experience!

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit, especially for the generous portion sizes. The prices are quite reasonable for classic Japanese dishes as well. The bento box combos make for an excellent choice for a takeout lunch!
