Absolutely LOVE this place. Except when they're closed . Drove from the Bay area and was planning a dinner and drinks but the place was dark. Oh well, we'll try again...

I took my wife to The Black Bart Inn tonight for Valentines Dinner.....I had heard good things from 2 different people that we trust, so we were excited. They had seating at 5:30 7:30...we chose the first seating. We got there and were impressed at the dining room, as it looked very nice! Things went downhill from there quickly. We were told that the gas was out so they were firing up BBQ's in back and our wait would be substantial... We were seated fairly quickly and then asked to move to a more quiet table. This was handled very well by the waitresses. Then, we waited and waited. We had drinks and waited some more. All the while the duo playing music were playing as if they were in a nightclub rather than a nice dinner house. The guy playing flute came out into the crowd and was very, very intrusive...and loud. He was good, but out of place for the evening. The woman singing chose a suggestive Marvin Gaye tune with a 10-12 year old present. Not good. We finally got served steak and lobster...no choice as to the preparation of the steak (it was rare) and the lobster, while decent size was served with no butter,etc and both dishes were barely warm at all. We got our appetizer after our main dishes, and there was no salad, bread, etc. We asked about dessert and were brought cheesecake. It was ok. Nothing special. We had been told that one round of drinks were on the house...nice gesture! So, our bill was $127.00. For me the evening with my wife gets a solid 10! The quality of the food, preparation, presentation and the fact that they charged us full price despite the dysfunction is regrettable. We got a dozen apologies, but in the end...the folks that apologized were the wait staff that were embarrassed. The ownership and management did not step up at all. with tip we dropped over 150.00 and while my wife's company makes every occasion special, we could have gone to any number of eating establishments and been delighted. PS...we saw folks ordering from a regular menu...we had no idea that this was available! It was not posted, and there were no menus on the tables. We give the Black Bart a Black Eye for this Valentines Day Debacle....

I DONT recommend. Where do I start? We paid for a week here and wont come back. No coffee pots no fridge had to ask for microwave (which was dirty when brought to me). Not one housekeeper in a week knocked on the door asking for service. Every time we needed a clean towel or soap we had to walk up to the front desk oh also no phone in the room! We had to ask for our sheets to he changed which seemed like we were asking for a lot or just seemed like we were a burden then them being helpful or sorry. Definitely not good for the price here. I've stayed at a lot of hotels and this one is near the worst. The rooms are decent but no amenities at all. No breakfast no nothing...won't be coming back checking out in the morning and going somewhere else!
