Bidrage med feedbackMy apologies to French speaking readers, I am an American visiting for business. The restaurant has been a must stop for me when I am in the region for work or personal travel. The entire staff is professional and attentive, without being intrusive. The chef surprises and delights with his selections one of my favorite meals ever was here in early 2022 and a return visit later this year was also exceptional. If you are a gourmand, the creative use of local ingredients will keep you entertained and satisfied. If you are a wine drinker, the selection will keep you delighted and make even the most seasoned connoisseur have trouble deciding on just one bottle or appellation. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys food as an experience but also as a location to celebrate with friends or family.
What's there not to love? Fantastic food with range of set menus depending on budget or taste. Fantastically friendly and helpful staff. The wine list is more like a wine encyclopaedia . Not to be missed!
Scrumptious and decent meals and wines only here. You may feel a little bit ackward if you are not used to this level of luxury but it makes you discover French culture at its best !
I checked out Tripadvisor and found the #1 restaurant in St Etienne. Made the booking online and was a bit disappointed that it was closed on Saturdays and Sundays. I settled for the Friday to treat my erasmus year student daughter. i was running late but called ahead and they made us feel at ease and assured us it was no problem. The menu is a choice of three set menus. I put this down to their desire to produce consistent high quality by limiting the amount offered. I had a selection of snails and frogs legs for starters. A first for me and it was a revelation. Frogs legs are divine. I could take or leave the snails (l'escargots). I then had Ray for my main which coincidentally is my favourite fish and it was cooked to perfection. A selection o exceptionally crafted desserts finished the meal. My daughter had a roll, sort of a spring roll, of venison, rabbit and wild boar that was a first that will be hard to beat. Then beef that was jelly soft with the best, and I mean the best, gravy I've tasted. She had the same dessert. That cost €91 for two. It's rare to get cooking excellence and value together but thats the miracle performed here. This was in the top three best meals Ive ever eaten. The service provided and the explanations given were patient and knowledgeable. In between main and dessert we had the cheeseboard. The range and quality was exceptional and I tried cheeses I've never had before. We got to compliment the chef as we left as he came out to say goodbye. A wonderful culinary experience and I cant wait to go back to St Etienne. Only thing I cant figure out is why it is not open on Saturdays and Sundays.
Really nice place where for less than 50 euros per person you get the service and the food equivalent to a Michelin restaurant. I strongly advise!
