Bidrage med feedbackDilapidated and dirty interior, very average food. I?ve been coming to PG for many years. This evening was the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. The interior of the restaurant hasn?t been updated, or thoroughly cleaned, in many years. Thecarpet is greasy and dirty, several light fixtures are burned out, some of the stone facade has fallen off, there are stains onthe walls. The grease panels over the hibachi grills haven?t been cleaned in a long time. The grease is literally dripping ontothe grills. The lobby seating wore out years ago. Ceiling panels are missing and broken; stuff is literally hanging out of theceiling. The hibachi grills have seen better days. The stainless steel trim around the grill top was falling off; the chef hadto put it back in place a couple times. Given the poor condition of the dining area, imagine what the kitchen must look like. How does this place pass a health inspection? The food is average at best. $37/plate is outrageous for the condition of therestaurant and the low quality food. It was hot; that?s the best I can say for it. The soup was weak broth with a couplevegetables floating in it. The salad was floating in a half inch of water and clearly wasn?t freshly made. The steak was fattyand tough; the chicken a bit rubbery. The owners are clearly milking every dime out of the place and not investing a nickel incleaning, repairing or updating the restaurant infrastructure, the menu or the quality of the food. There are so many greatrestaurants in Rochester; this place isn?t among them. Plum Garden?s day has come and gone. Time for a major refresh or toclose.
Our cook Tony was awesome!!!! But the place smelled like a restroom? and no, it wasn?t the smell of the food? it smelled dirty. Our server brought us dirty water glasses and would grab our plates from us without asking if we were done. Overall, we reallylike the hibachi food, but didn?t appreciate the waitress and the restaurant itself was not clean.
Chef Tony (sorry, if I wrote it wrong) is the man!! Please, Tony, if you ever find yourself in Plum Garden, you won't regret it. The only best cooking experience I ever had in a Hibachi restaurant. His cooking was great, but his banter was what made the night so unforgettable. Chef Tony is a doctorate and a raise because he made my birthday dinner on the show and a wonderful experience.
So the experience started off really rough. Made reservation for 730 got there on time was told there would be a 20 min wait ok no prob it was rather busy half hr rolls around asked hostess estimated time she said well another 25 mins. Found out she was seating walk ins before us. Finally got back waited a bit longer we were hr and a half in at this point I was fully invested. Was completed upset until we got our hibachi chef Tony he was amazing he made it a complete turn around experience for us. He was super engaging really funny and a overall pleasure. We ended up really happy food was great way more then I needed. By far the best chef I've had at any hibachi place thus far
The sushi and sashimi at this restaurant are of good quality and the service is fast. However, there is an excessive amount of radishes, cucumbers, and ginger used as decoration to make the portions appear larger.
