Spicy City - Redmond

Had lunch. Beef and tofu. Extremely satisfied. Extra green onion. Real pepper. I do not mind msg, but might ask for allocation next visit. Point being: there WILL be a next visit. 'Popcorn Chicken with Special Pepper Sauce, ' recommendation has my interest.

Edit: (based on owners comments) Originally we had posed that there were mislabeled options when we thought that the eggplant dish had fish sauce in it while still being on the vegetarian section but apparently that is just a mistranslation and it is in fact vegetarian. I'm sure that if we had it in the sauce it would have been better (because it would have been made the way it was intended). There were not many vegetarian vegan options but the staff was happy to help modify some dishes to make them vegetarian which was really appreciated. They also mentioned that the styrofoam cups were just temporary and that once they have a full staff they will switch over which is appreciated. Either way it is good to see that they are putting in efforts to do well.

First time trying Spicy City and we were impressed! It's hard to find an authentic Szechuan restaurant. I used to frequent Spiced in Bellevue but since its closure, I haven't found a decent Szechuan place in Redmond/Bellevue. Spicy City is legit!! It brings me back to my visits to Chengdu and Chongqing. The star dish was surprisingly not spicy but rather, the Yang Zhou fried rice lightly seasoned but packed full of flavor from the pork, shrimp, vegetable. Second place was the Chongqing chicken amazing, perfectly cooked, just the right amount of spice and you know it's legit when more than 50% is chili pepper. I highly recommend it and I can't wait to try other dishes.

Good and authentic spicy food and quality is very consistent. Have ordered over a dozen times and have never been disappointed. Your meal Prep time was also quite fast, for 2-3 dishes, it is usually around 10-15mins, depending on when you place the order. The best part is the part is large enough for two of us to enjoy over two meals.
