Butcher Barrel Gastropub - Racine

It was quiet and chill. Bartender was amazing and she had a wonderful smile. Food bussin...and beers were good. I'm going back fur sure:

Chef forgot to make a dish for table of 5. Sat and waited while the rest of the party ate. Food was just mediocre. We've eaten there many times so not sure what the deal is now. People came in and out of the kitchen and bathroom numerous times. One came from the kitchen and visited someone (girlfriend? at the bar more than once while we were there. Likely will not return.

Being brief… Saddened. Mediocre. Just ok. The menu was odd. I ordered pork chops for 36 dollars could barely enjoy because too much tyme. There was pumpkin purée that tasted like water and pumpkin spice paired with a scallop, cashew, sugar pea and it was meh…the whole bite just brought me back to gerber puréed pumpkin. The bacon Mac n cheese was buttery and such a large-like 3 ppl could’ve split it. But it was the best dish out of all three. We started with Brussels sprouts-delish I just wish the glaze was not as watery and held the bacon to the veg. But delish. I just wanted to leave an honest review. Paid 180 total plus two drinks…the drinks were infused with lavender and I think Baby’s breath…cute. I got the concept. June special drinks. It’s not the best but if you want to support those in food service, please support and tip well. A 200 dollars is better spent at a Bartolottas restaurant…in my experience. No shade. Like we had leftovers-large portions but for 200 we paid to waste food because we weren’t compelled to relive the experience. I may eat the Mac n cheese for lunch today (2days later) because I don’t want to waste so much money. I appreciate the service and I brought my 3yr at around 7:30-we popped in from Farmers Market and it was mostly manageable. Not ideal for kids or physically impaired though. Kid-friendliness: They accommodated for my daughter got us plastic silverware set.

Our server was awesome and friendly. The drinks were good. The food honestly I could have gotten better at chilis. My soup was decent but the chicken wings and chicken sandwich were dry and not flavorful. Prices were high for what it is. While we were there there was a wedding party going on upstairs and an older couple with a semi younger older adult was directed upstairs. They have no elevator or chair lift and the waiter the women asked was just like “nope only stairs” no apology or anything. And then only bathroom available is also on the first floor. Again no apology from the staff. I personally don’t even think non-accessible restaurants should be able to exist. It’s 2024 to exclude a whole population is outrageous and the one staff members nonchalant attitude was deplorable. We would not go back.

Drove up to meet our son and his girlfriend and picked butcher barrel Gastopub on a whim. Reviews looked good and the atmosphere fit the bill. We were not disappointed and will be back again!!!
