Wollersheim Winery Distillery

Really loved our time there. Great glass of wine in a beautiful setting. I had never been there and had heard a lot about it. Open noon to 5 daily. Found aome potential gifts like Old Fashioned kit and lots of wine and brandy options. Will be back for sure.

We’ve been going to Wollersheim for many years now. We are back in town decided to check it out again. As always the scenery is gorgeous! We started at the distillery and got an old fashioned and an apples cream. Both were absolutely delicious looked so pretty. Then we headed over to the winery, we got a bottle of Prairie Fume went to the bistro for some snacks. We saw they had a brandy old fashioned cookie so we had to try it out as it’s our favorite drink. This cookie really does taste like an old fashioned in every bite and is so soft. We enjoyed it so much we went back 5 minutes before they closed and bought all the ones they had left over. We shared them with our family and now they won’t stop asking us to get more! Very nice winery. Our family enjoyed our visit. There was one rude cashier. She scolded our 14 year old for walking upstairs, even though the sign said it was open to the public. We purchased 2 wine tastings and four bottles of wine. Very pretty flowers and nice grounds to walk and visit.

The absinthe was delicious. The Brandy and the bourbon not so much. Little harsh. Hoping the four pack of brandy Old Fashioned it's good. $32 it better be. Absolutely beautiful place. Lot of uphill climbing.

We saw on FB that it was NATIONAL WINE DAY (yesterday 5/25). We had been planning an afternoon at Wollersheim one of these days since retirement in March. It was a rainy and quite frankly a chilly afternoon, so we said 'why not today ' in honor of national wine day? We did a self tour, drinking a light flight of 4 delicious wines. We were the only people seated in the rustic 2nd floor bistro from 4:00 until they closed at 5pm. The atmosphere was cozy and we had a delightful outing. On our way out we purchased 2 bottles of wine in the store. Everyone was helpful and kind; prices reasonable. We plan to come back over the summer months and sit outside with friends. I had not been to Wollersheim in over 40 years. Thanks for the memories!
