While I wouldn't give high marks to their other menu items, the perch and pickerel fish and chips are great. I would give this place 4 stars, but their pricing is a little high or above average.
Love the perch platter here. And the French onion soup was excellent. Service was good and prices were affordable. The Decor could use a bit of an upgrade. Little dingy. The service was good. Efficient and pleasant. Have been here three times now while on vacation and would recommend especially for larger groups. The platter a basket of fries and gravy, side a garlic bread was enough for 4 people. Around $50. Excluding drinks.
The owner of the resultant is disrespectful to his staff. The food is unpleasant and the place has a smell that reminds me of a old musty school. Chris, the owner has made demands of his staff that are outside the legal standards of employment. Don't waste your hard earned cash on a place where you're money will get thinned out right into his deep pockets.
We were looking forward to enjoying the restaurant this coming beach season but will not be back after what has come to light about the owner. Service was excellent and food/value was good. Hoping we can enjoy this prime beach location under new ownership at some point.
This restaurant is well-known for its delicious food, but unfortunately, its reputation for how it treats its employees is quite concerning. The owner requires staff to give him a 2% fee from all bills (not tips) in order to work there. Instead of going towards the back of house workers, this money goes directly into the owner's pocket. With plenty of other great restaurants to choose from, there is no reason to support one that operates in such a disgraceful manner.
