Cyclists oasis at the top of the Gavia. This is a sight for sure eyes having scaled the Gavia. Well worth stopping for a visit. The food is reasonably priced and service is quick.would particularly recommend the Gulash Soup. It was tasty hearty and the portion size was generous. Inside, as well as the restaurant, there is a gift shop selling gavia memorabilia.. Beautiful terrace with views over the black lake.

After climbing gavia from Bormio i stopped there. Great place, nice people. Had a coffe and a hot chocolate. Inside was warm and they had a heater very good for drying clothes

I first visited here several years ago stayed the night (they didn’t remember me! whilst motorcycle touring. The place doesn’t appear to have changed at all, which is a huge compliment, not a criticism. I’d just driven up the Gavia Pass, from Ponte di Legno, on my way to Bormio. I had harboured ideas of cycling the gavial, but Stelvio was more important to me with breaks in the weather of paramount importance, I’d decided against Gavia, for this year. Having only ‘done’ Gavia on a motorcycle previously I hadn’t realised how utterly terrifying it is in a car! On a ‘bike the narrowness doesn’t really matter too much. Driving a Mondeo estate up there, most of the way my heart was in my mouth. It was also still very snowy at the top, so whilst I was extremely happy to reach the summit unscathed, I was somewhat underdressed for getting out wandering around. Undaunted I parked across the road made my way hurriedly to the café. It was lovely warm, for starters, full of cyclists more intrepid than I, plus one other driver. At least I had a cycle on the back of the car  My coffee was very welcome, again, I didn’t eat, however the food on tables around me looked excellent was appetising, it was being consumed with gusto by those who’d expended more energy than me getting there. There’s a good range on the menu, I had two different coffees, both lovely. Souvenirs are sold here, I resisted temptation as I reckon I’ll grab them next year when I really have ‘done’ it. Everything from reasonably priced stickers, ideal for a pushbike, to replica cycle jerseys which are ever so slightly more expensive. If you happen to find yourself at the top of the Gavia Pass, you don’t really have much choice of where to go for your sustenance. That hasn’t led to complacency I’d say it’s almost worth going there just for this place.

I love these people..no matter what time we come here they are always happy and smiling... No matter whether you come in to steal some heat or just get a coffee, they make you feel at home. This kind of hospitality is hard to find

Ery tasty food some of the dishes can be called original cuisine. Friendly staff. Convenient location the restaurant is in the center of Santa Caterina, near the ski lifts.
