Bidrage med feedbackBeen here for almost 6 months, and I will say, it's definitely nowhere near what most people will tell you it is. From my experience, it's been fairly pleasant- the only issue is how they assign roommates. They respond fairly quickly to maintenance requests put into the building portal (usually within 24hrs unless it's the weekend), but make sure to put it in the portal! There's a fair chance it will be forgotten otherwise (which is understandable enough). The staff can be hard to get a hold of, but are fairly easy to work with when you are able to. If you have trouble with your apartment placing (allergies, very gross or rude roommates, etc), they are usually willing to work with you as long as you talk to them soon enough after. In terms of pros;•It's fairly close to a majority of where you need to go in the city (easily biking/walking distance)•It is right next to SUNY and they do have a shuttle to CCC.•They do have community resources like a fitness room, lounges, a gaming room, and a movie room.•The maintenance is pretty quick to respond and always helpful. In terms of cons;•If you are a working professional, there is a chance that they are still going to place a college kid into your unit.•Getting packages can be difficult, you can only get them during office hours and in my personal experience, a lot of times I try to get said packages nobody is in office.•Getting a hold of staff can genuinely be a task at times. I've had times where calling/emails don't really seem to get through, and have had voicemails unresponded to, which is incredibly frusterating when it's an important time-sensitive question.•I don't personally mind much, but sometimes the halls just reek of weed. They do have rules against this, and they do try to enforce them, it's just kinda college kids who haven't heard of pens/edibles making their choice everyone's problem. If there is any advice I have for staff, it's to be more mindful of privacy and safety of occupants.I've had 2 seperate occasions where staff have just entered the apartment with no notice when I was naked or near naked, which is definitely not pleasant. I've been told that technically they are allowed to do this, but I have read the entirely of my lease and nowhere does it say this.I've also had staff give a key to my apartment to a person who was told they would be moving to a different, which lead to a very scary situation of having what was ultimately a stranger in my home. It was obviously an absent-minded mistake and nothing malicious, we've all been there, but it can be a very dangerous mistake if made with the wrong people.I also think it's a good idea to remain mindful of ADA notices, I felt the need to post mine in the portal after the agreed upon accommodation was violated. At the end of the day, what really makes-or-breaks it is the roommates you get stuck with. They apperently have a way to kinda set you with more like-minded people, but it's really not that reliable from what I've seen, so you gotta be okay with what you get.TLDR; Overall I do recommend considering if you are on a budget, it's pretty good for what/where it is, just as long as you don't mind being stuck with luck-of-the-draw roommates.
Disorganized and unprofessional. Nobody seems to know what their doing. Don't waste your time. UPDATE I contacted Broad Street as they requested, re-explained why I left a bad review and to see if they would actually try to make things right. THEY DID NOT EVEN WRITE BACK! Look elsewhere if you want to be taken seriously and have your time respected.
You need a high credit score and 3 times the monthly income for each person who is to move into theses apartments. I find this to be a discriminitory housing practice. Me and my room mate tld the property manager me and my room mate now wanted to apply for an appartment there and we where both on SSA disabiity payments and she said to apply. so we did and got denied and there are other people on dissability living there and 1 was the lady who gave us the grand tour before meeting the manager and applying for the apartment.
I haven't been here for very long, but so far everything has been good. The amenities are great, staff have been nice, and the room is a decent size for 1 person. My only complaint is the smell of Marijuana throughout some hallways, sometimes overbearing.
My over all experience at the commons is good. But I feel like the business is not run as a business and I feel like there is a lack in chain of command. Students have damaged property which maintenance keeps on top of. I take pride in making sure my rent is paid on time so I was upset that renters insurance was added to my rent. However once explained I understand it better. Honestly my review is slightly less positive as the commons is not run like a business and a lack of communication amongst the staff.
