Steel Cactus Southside - Pittsburgh

Had her dip trio, that was quite simple, but the chips were super good. I have chicken tacos who literally tasted like dosen mushy tuna there side dishes not much taste, but to complete it, I was in the restroom all night with digestion problems.

The happy hour specials were great and the staff was very nice BUT the restaurant is not run well. The ordering system was malfunctioning so our 3 YO's cheese quesadilla came out after our food (not good for a hungry child) and when we ordered dessert they didn't have any spoons so the waitress had to bring us plastic ones. They servers really tried their best with what they had to work with but overall the restaurant is not run managed well and it shows.

The hostess would not seat us because she said that they did not check their open table reservations.

As far as basic Mexican cuisine at a good price, you'll do well to go to the Steel Cactus. The menu isn't overly extensive but has everything you need. I will say when I ordered the Mexican Street Corn I expected it on the cob but it was not. And I know it's supposed to be spicy but it was a little overboard as far as that went. And we had to ask for salsa which was weird...should be automatic.

The table was dirty when we got there. The server had to give us a new table. The guac came out 10 min after the rest of the sides. They also wouldn't honor a groupon we had even though the fine print contradicted what they said at the restaurant. The food wasn't great either. We probably won't go back.
