Bidrage med feedbackMy girlfriend and I went to Yayoi for lunch a few weeks ago. The restaurant was not crowded, so we were quickly seated. Each table had an iPad for ordering food, including requesting water. After we placed our order, the server brought out all of our food. We each got one entree since we weren't very hungry. My girlfriend's salmon salad was just okay, with thin slices of salmon and a lack of flavor in the salad. I tried the miso katsu, and while the flavors were good, the katsu was soggy. The service was a bit disappointing as we were seated at a dirty table and our server did not properly clean it. When the host tried to clean it, the server stopped her.
Soy Sauce? Pretty sure that's just spicy garlic ?Eventually they brought the soy sauce and it was super Umami. That combined with the really cute redhead server is why it gets 5 starsFood: 5/5
I used to come here a lot. Haven't been for 3 years, and it's gone downhill. The katsu was terrible today, smaller and tougher meat, plus more like a Chinese dish rather than Japanese katsu. The salmon was rubbery (look at the photo) and not the right cut for sashimi. No bueno. Sorry guys two thumbs down.Menu and ordering is great and food came out super quick. Price is alright. Kids meal legit. Just not really Japanese food, and not very tasty.
We came during lunch time and almost 1pm on Saturday. There were plenty of seatings so no wait time at all. Each table has a tablet and you can order straight from there without talking to anyone. The food definitely got a bit more pricey compared to a few years ago when we were here, but the food was still good. It came super fast right after we ordered.I highly recommend getting the gyoza with wasabi mayo. Very unique and it's mildly crispy. Very tender bites to get started with the meal.I got a sukiyaki set. Just the right balance of sweetness in the sukiyaki, it comes with an onsen egg and you get to pick seaweed salad or hijiki salad I recommend the later one). Overall a good meal, but food is getting more and more expensive.
Yayoi has consistently improved in quality over the years. The food is fantastic overall, but the standout dish for me has to be the gyoza. It is hands down the best gyoza I have ever had, especially the one with wasabi mayo. I would rate the food 4 out of 5.
