Bidrage med feedbackWe were here for dinner with 400+ other guests. Wonderful food and great service. Despite our large group the acoustics allowed us to speak at normal levels. Beautiful ambiance.
This is a little different kind of place. In a Dominican hotel with interesting displays, this is really the dining room for people staying there. But as other reviews say, they feed others who know enough to ask. And do they feed! It's a set menu, though the charge for the courses a la carte. The food is delicious and they keep asking you if you want more. The table wine was delicious, too. And my baked apple for dessert was still hot. Really it was four courses with bottled water and wine for €12.50. And the dining room was peaceful, cheery, and immaculate.
It does not take guest of this hotel to be able to have lunch or dinner. Just warn you before the reception. At best Portuguese style are served: a bowl of soup, a dish main, a dessert. All accompanied by a bottle mineral water and a bottle of wine. Already included in the price. The service is done by waitresses and can repeat. It is a huge restaurant (over 200 tables) serving the various pilgrims who come in caravans. The price of meals, considering the quality, location, tranquility, It is below the price of other establishments. Highly recommended.
We stayed at Casa Das Irmas Dominicanas with a group for a week. While the hotel is basic it has a lot of charm and is very cosy. It is also well located within Fatima and is popular with pilgrims. The Dominican nuns, while present, are not involved with the running of the establishment which is handled by professionals . Unfortunately, the staff are anything but professional. Upon arrival the reception staff could not tell us when our rooms would be ready and we were left waiting for several hours before we finally got rooms, only for some of us to find that they had not been cleaned since their previous occupation. The worst service was however in the restaurant where waiting staff were rude and unhelpful. Members of our group were left waiting for their food whilst others had been served. Any polite request for service was received with rudeness. Frankly, it was very disappointing and had we not prepaid for the week we would have left and eaten outside. To be fair, there was the odd rose amongst the thorns when it came to the staff, but sadly the general shambolic and rude nature of most of the staff would not allow us to recommend this hotel to future visitors. The old nuns are lovely however and we can only imagine that the place would be a much nicer place to stay if they were still in charge.
We stayed here with a group of 15. We had the same tables for all our meals. The waitestaff were so polite and good. They have a set menu each day so when you sit they just keep bringing you food. Each meal starts with a delicious soup and a salad. The rolls are to die for...actually wish I could have brought some home with me. They prepare a lot of fush and vegetable meals which were very tasty. While there on the weekend a lot of people came for a family meal so you don't have to be staying there to eat there.
